Finish What Ya Started

Woohoo! They be done!

I am pretty happy with the way that they came out.

I love the color, and I am pretty proud of the design. That said, with all of the knitting (and ripping out and knitting and ripping out and knitting) to make the design, and knitting the actual pair of socks you see here, I don’t think I am going to knit another pair of these socks within the next year. No promises, though.

Ice Ice Baby is not the only thing that is done here.

I plied up the black alpaca that I received as part of the Winter Wonderland Swap. It spun up like a dream, and I think I am going to be using it as a warp for a scarf. I think it will show off a wildly colorful yarn well.

And there is progress on the elongated chevron sock.

I really enjoy working with the yarn. I am not sure if I picked the right design for this, or if the chevron is fighting the pattern of the yarn too much, but I am going to continue on with it. It may look entirely different when it is on the hoof anyway. Besides, I am doing this as part of a KAL on the Dragonfly Fibers group on Ravelry. If I get the socks done by the end of April, then I am in the game for a skein of Naiad! Woohoo!

That gold thread there in the photo is just to mark what round I started doing the increases for the gusset. Not very pretty, but effective. Now if I had Opal’s new Off the Hook stitch markers, I would be marking that spot in style. Luckily, Opal is having a contest right now to give away a set of her markers and you can enter to win a set by leaving a comment on the this entry in her blog. And if you mention me in your comment, I get an entry as well! Woohoo!

  1. Very nice Ice!

  2. Your Ice, Ice Baby socks look terrific, I love mine! Your alpaca yarn is very pretty, can’t wait to see you start weaving with it. Your Elongated Chevron shows up very nicely in your selected yarn. I do not know what Naiad yarn is, I will have to find out. Now I’m off to try to win some markers!

  3. i am lovin’ what you got goin’ on! 😀

and i’m sorry you didn’t win any markers. i wish all my favorite people could have won, but that wouldn’t have been very fair. i think i’ll hold more give-aways in the future though!
