Movin’ Right Along

Reference

Woohoo! I am still here! Either I don’t have the time to right a post, or I don’t have the light to take pictures for the post. In any case, here is an update.

Sweater progress

I am at the point on the back of Mr. Penney’s sweater that I am working the diamonds. All of those little wind-offs of yarn are for each diamond (though I actually miscounted by one. Oops!) For the wind-offs, I allotted about an inch of yarn per stitch. Since there are 144 stitches in each full diamond, I measured one yard of yarn (36 inches) and do a “two fold” (36 x 2 = 72, 72 x 2 = 144) to cut the length. Once I have one cut to length, I just measure the others against that. Since the actual correlation of yarn length to stitches for this knit is 2.5 inches for 3 stitches, I have some room for variance (i.e. mistakes.)

I am also moving right along on the sock front.

Sock progress

The koi pond sock is nearing where I have to turn the heel. Because I was going to a meeting Wednesday night, I didn’t want to be thinking about short rows while socializing, so I resurrected the cross-stitch block sock. What you see is as far as I got in the two and a half hours I was at Borders meeting everyone.

The meetup itself was nice. Some were very excited to have a man there, as they “lost their previous man” a little while ago. (He moved to San Diego.) I will be going back again, though not this coming Wednesday, as I will probably be baking something to take over to my parents’ for Thanksgiving dinner. If you don’t hear from me by then, have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

  1. You are moving along so quickly on Mr. Penney’s sweater, it is beautiful! Might you be finishing it over the holiday weekend? Your socks look great, the rib on the koi pond socks breaks to the colors up nicely. I used 60 sts for my mother’s Jitterbug socks. I will be using 64 sts for my Mixed Berries socks and they may even be toe up, depending on my mood.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
